The Place Toolbar appears on
some of the Place pages. If a place has a toolbar, it is indicated by an
*
after the name in the Select Place scroll window (e.g., France* ). We plan to
add the Place Toolbar to all the places in the future. This is the sample Place
Toolbar for France. All hyperlinks are active for the toolbar
shown here.

Web
and Vidcam Locations. |
- There are 3 types of
CAM's that may be shown for a place or city.
Clicking the camera icon
will take you to a selected webcam site for the city. Sometimes we
include 2 webcam sites, especially if one of the webcam sites is controllable.
Webcams may update from a few seconds to once a day depending on the
site! Some webcams only operate part of the day. We try to
find one that updates within a minute and operates 24 hours a
day. We prefer outdoor scenes.
C
If the camera icon has
the letter C beside or C on it, it means that the camera is controllable by the user.
You will need the appropriate software downloaded to use this camera.
This is usually free. Some webcams may use Java applets and you must
then enable Java for your browser. (Click
here for more information.)
If the
camera icon has the letter V on it, it means that
the camera is a video camera with real-time sound and motion. You
will need RealPlayer, Windows Media Player or other appropriate
software which is usually free.
